The Elephant Conservation Center (ECC) in Laos is dedicated to the preservation and protection of Asian elephants through a comprehensive approach:

• Rescue:  All elephants are rescues (unless born at the center), brought to the ECC for a second chance at life in their natural environment at the center which spans over 530 Ha. 

• Rehabilitate: As Laos' only elephant hospital, the team of 2 permanent Lao vets, 1 vet technician, and 2 biologists delivers high-quality medical care and rehabilitation.

• Reproduce: ECC runs Laos' sole elephant breeding program, vital for maintaining genetic diversity and boosting population numbers in a safe environment.

• Reherd: ECC focuses on socializing elephants and managing herd behaviors to ensure healthy social structures.

• Rewild: ECC's pioneering rewilding program successfully reintroduces elephants into their natural habitat, enhancing regional biodiversity.

• Research: Ecc's advanced research facilities, including endocrinology, diagnostic, and DNA labs in collaboration with the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute, support cutting-edge scientific research.

• Respect: ECC prioritizes the respect of elephants in their natural habitat and support a dedicated ranger team in Nam Pouy National Park. We also honor the traditional knowledge and lifestyle of Lao mahouts.

Elephant Jungle Sanctuary Phuket (Camp 4) has been touted as the most ethical elephant camp in Phuket. The Mekong Elephant Park combines ecotourism, elephant well-being and community development. Located within a stunning 50-hectare forest, all revenue is used to rescue elephants, provide veterinary care, and to provide mahouts with a sustainable wage.

Elephant Jungle Sanctuary (EJS) is a tourism project about elephants, established in 2014.

 

It is a joint initiative between Karen Hill-tribes and Thai people to create an ethical and sustainable elephant camp for tourists.

 

There are six elephants ranging in age from 4 to 26 years.
